October–Autumn Lull

AUTUMN LULL

Sparkles leap from wave to tiny wave

of the slowly running river

the water lazy

almost calm

in the autumn lull

before the winter ice and snow

encroach

to whittle down the flow

to a black and unseen

trickle.
