It feels like the world has stopped, doesn’t it?
Like everyone, we are all doing our part to stay at home.
For the last twenty years as a photographer, I have been typically capturing images of families in times of joy: babies on the way, newborns, families, weddings, high school graduates and more. Those moments of joy are still happening, unfortunately, I can’t be there to capture them. We are in unprecedented times.
Starting April 4, I am offering to take five minute ‘Front Steps Portraits” of Fort Collins residents. I am taking time to travel around town and quickly capture images of families on their porches or front steps.
I would like to document families in their “new normal.”
This will be a fundraiser for the Larimer County Food Bank.
Here’s how:
- We will agree on a time.
- To be clear: I will be taking images outside ONLY and from at least 10 feet away. Our session will be brief, likely just 5 minutes. This could be a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session. Or if you want to stand outside in your pajamas and slippers, go for it! Kids wearing the same clothes for 3 days straight? I am game. Getting ready for a hike because you’re headed off to a trail in the nice weather? Love it! Be you.
- You will leave your check for the Food Bank in your mailbox or someplace safe for social distancing.
- I will arrive and let you know I am there. You can step outside, where I’ll be standing near your driveway or street, at least 10 feet away.
- I’ll quickly take a few shots and leave. We will try to have a little fun together! I physically interact with no one, and touch nothing, during these sessions.
After your session, I will email you the digital file of your portrait. In exchange, I am asking you to make at least a $50 donation to the Larimer County Food Bank, or add more if you are feeling generous! You can leave a check for the Food Bank in your mailbox.
I will be posting these images on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #thefrontstepsproject.
The purpose of this project is to bring our community together in this unprecedented time. Participating in this project is also an opportunity to step up to help those who need it most right now in Fort Collins.
