EVENING CLOUDS
The dark clouds of night
settle on the quiet harbor
bringing with them the soft breeze of summer
relief from the harsh heat of the sun
the cries of terns and gulls
diminish into the twilight
the clouds descend to the dunes
drift to their paths over the horizon
to reveal the specter
of the moon and Venus
high in the sky

INNOCENCE
This flower
standing tall
wide eyed
unaware of all that might come
the surprises
the dangers
the challenges
I stand with her
hopeful that she may remain untouched
until her purpose is fulfilled
as nature has ordained
