OCTOBER
The hummingbirds come to the window
to buzz a final goodbye
then head south
the sun falls beneath the trees
traveling close to the earth
the pebbles cast their shadows on the beach
mingling with the still water
the pumpkins turn orange in the field
then appear with faces
at the last.
