LONELINESS by WZ Nelson
Loneliness creeps in the windows
crawls across the floor
settles in my lap
loneliness cannot be eased
by a lighted screen in the corner of the room
or one held in the hand
or by a box delivered to a doorstep
Loneliness can be eased
by a friendly smile
given across a counter
by a cheerful word in the marketplace
or a visit to a place of beauty
that warms the heart
or the wag of a furry tail
on the floor beside my chair
